Teachers and graduate students of college of life science attended "7th National Academic Seminar on Oat and Buckwheat "

    From 17th to 19th of February, Prof. Wu Qi and Prof. Shao Jirong from the department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, College of Life Sciences, as along with graduate students Yao Panfeng and Zou Chenyan, went to Lanzhou, Gansu Province, for "7th National Academic Seminar on Oat and Buckwheat " co-sponsored by Oat Buckwheat Branch of Crop Science Society of China and National Industry Technology System of Oats Buckwheat.

    Ren Changzhong, The chief scientist of National Industry Technology System of Oats Buckwheat, and other five experts were invited to make reports in the seminar. Twenty-seven experts and scholars conducted the academic exchanges on oat buckwheat nutrition and processing technology, genomics and biotechnology, germplasm resources and genetic breeding, cultivation and pest control. Prof. Wu Qi and Ph.D. student Yao Panfeng presented the reports on "Effects of light on flavonoids synthesis in seedling buckwheat” and "Gene cloning and functional identification of drought-related transcription factor FtbHLH3 from tartary buckwheat", respectively. Their presentations had been highly praised by the experts in the related field, which promoted their academic reputation on flavonoids synthesis and resistance molecular mechanisms of tartary buckwheat.
