With the progress of our education internationalization, the number of students who plan to study abroad is growing. To help students better understanding the issues about studying abroad, The College of Life Sciences invited Professor Zhou Yaodong, Secretary General of the US-China University International Cooperation Organization, to give a lecture entitled "How Far from Ya'an to Harvard - Sichuan Agricultural Alumni Study Abroad" to students, in 10th teaching building room A101 at 4:30 pm on April 28. The event was hosted by Professor Xu Huailiang, deputy dean of the college of Life Sciences. More than 200 students attend the lecture, including students from the College of Life Sciences, the College of Science, the College of Water Resources and Hydropower, the College of Humanities, and the College of Food.
Professor Zhou told a lot of stories about studying abroad. From the stories of the outstanding alumni of Sichuan Agriculture University Long Manyuan, Meng Jianghong, Lu Baorong, and Jia Yulin to his own, he shared the precious experiences and feelings of overseas study with students. He introduced the disciplines in the University of Washington , the University of Missouri and the University of Minnesota. Particularly, he focused on introducing details of the choice of studying abroad, application preparation, foreign university admission requirements and admission procedures, etc. He also provided guidance to applications in condition under “bad language”, “low budget” and “low scores”. The humorous and interesting explanations of Professor Zhou deeply attracted the students. After the lecture, students were eager to ask questions. Professor Zhou answered the questions one by one, and the atmosphere was very warm.
This lecture aroused and enhanced the students' interest in studying abroad, broaden their horizons and enriched their life experience, and also further promoted the internationalization education work for our university.
